About Clarence - Re-Blooming Bearded Iris

Iris germanica

Seed Type Rhizome

Clarence is dressed to impress with his white and blue-violet petals and a cream-colored beard, and an added bonus—these handsome fellas smell great. Since they're re-blooming, you get to see them twice a year—they'll flower in late spring and then again in early fall. They'll grow up to 3 feet tall, so they're perfect for borders and as a backdrop. They look great with roses, too. Make sure you plant the rhizomes in well-drained soil, give them lots of sun, and fertilize them after the first set of blooms has faded. Tip: Since irises bloom at different times depending on their size, combine several types together for an even longer blooming period. And, good news: they're deer- and rabbit-resistant!
